Family Dance Festival – Call to artists

The Family Dance Festival will present a package of highly engaging ready-made foyer/site specific work by three Wales based companies or independent choreographers, and will feature Caroline Finn’s Animatorium by National Dance Company Wales. The four pieces, packaged into one programme will tour to five venues – ChapterTheatr BrycheiniogTheatr HafrenThe Riverfront and Wales Millennium Centre between 7 and 22 April 2017.

We are looking for light and entertaining dance pieces suitable for family audiences that are no longer than 15 minutes in duration and have low technical demands. Work submitted can be extracts from longer productions however applicants will need to demonstrate clearly the extracts they wish to present. Only work submitted on video will be considered.

The selection panel, made up of Coreo Cymru’s Creative Producer, Carole Blade; National Dance Company Wales’ Artistic Director Caroline Finn and Creu Cymru’s Dance Consortium Project Manager, Judi Hughes, will review the work and make announcements by Thursday 5 January 2017.

The contract dates are between 3 -13 April 2017 and 18 – 22 April 2017 and includes a four-day preparation and remounting period housed in Dance House, Wales Millennium Centre which will be overseen by the project’s Creative Director Caroline Finn.

An inclusive fee of £6,000 will be offered to each company plus travel and accommodation expenses
