Audio Describers wanted for Family Dance Festival

Bombastic Dance Theatre and Coreo Cymru are delivering the Family Dance Festival, a programme piloted last year to encourage engagement with and introduce family audiences to a varied range of dance styles within a contemporary dance context. The touring package includes short foyer/outdoor dance pieces from three professional Wales based companies and guest performances from local groups at each venue. 60 minutes in total, the fun and entertaining programme also offers a short taster workshop at the end of each show.

We are particularly interested in developing the audio description for live dance, something I’m aware isn’t particularly developed in Wales and have contracted Dr Louise Fryer to assist in the preparation and development through a three-day workshop taking place in Chapter, Cardiff between Thur 22 and Sat 24 of March.
Here’s a recent interview with Louise about her work.
Our aim for the AD workshop is to provide the tools needed to describe physicality and to develop the scripts and language ready for our touring programme. We have up to three places available for experienced Audio Describers and daily contracts for the touring programme.
Workshop Details:
Chapter, Cardiff – 2pm, Thur 22 March – 5.30pm, Sat on 25 March 2018.  Participants living outside of the South Wales area will be offered £150 to support travel costs based on two nights accommodation, plus a training fee of £250.
Contracts will be offered to those who participated in the workshop, based on a fee of £150 per 60 minute show in each of the presenting venues, plus travel expenses.
