Next week there will be 2 showings by Sally Marie’s Sweetshop Revolution of her current research project “I loved you and I loved you” supported by Coreo Cymru, National Theatre Wales, and Trinity Laban. It is inspired by the extraordinary work and life of Welsh composer Morfydd Owen and includes performances by three incredible dancers Carys Staton, Dan Whiley and Karl Fagerland-Brekke.

Morfydd was born towards the end of the 19th Century into a small Welsh community and led a colourful life in London whilst developing a glittering career as composer and singer. She also married the first British psychoanalyst, Ernest Jones, at the age of 25 and died the following year under circumstances that have never fully been explained.

Sally Marie’s close collaborator on this project is the pianist Brian Ellsbury. As an associated project he has recorded and released the first ever recordings of some of her piano music; available now on iTunes. The songs will be sung by young Welsh soprano Ellen Williams.

All are warmly invited to the showings, at Trinity Laban, studio 3, on Saturday 23rd August at 1.00pm and at Blue Room, Dance House, Wales Millennium Centre on Tuesday 26th Aug at 7.30.
