EU Cultural Fund to develop Dance Roads

Coreo/Chapter’s application to the EU Cultural Fund to develop the Dance Roads international initiative has been successful.

Coreo submitted a EU application last November to the Culture Fund to support the development of Dance Roads Open Process (DROP) with partners from Canada, Italy, France and Holland.

Year one of the two-year programme will provide practical and artistic tools to enhance choreographic practice, develop an interactive tool mapping current networks and host a European conference in Chapter providing an opportunity for dialogue and exchange between dance leaders and artists from a broad range of EU countries.

During 2014, the programme will continue to work with the five participating choreographers and present their newly developed work to audiences in each of the partner venues. This international tour, in June 2014, will be accompanied with workshops, residencies, talks, research projects to support audience development, international dialogue and best practice.

The Dance Roads network was founded in 1989 to support choreographic development and provide artists with much needed international exposure and networking opportunities.

In 2012 the UK representative was Associate Artist Tanja Råman who presented her duet Unattaching during May 2012 to audiences in Montreal, Bordeaux, Turin, Cardiff and Arnhem, accompanied by established choreographers from each of the partner countries.
