Welsh Dance Strand
During 2016 the Coreo commissioned work ‘Into the Water’ by Up & Over It, presented @ The Space, Surgeon’s Hall between 11th and 21st August.
Supported by an Arts Council of Wales’ Wales in Edinburgh grant.
Internationally renowned folk-dance duo Up & Over It, present an immersive adventure for the whole family through dance, percussion and video. With music by British nouveau folk artists, this foot-stomping, hand-tapping show reinvents folk dance in a fresh and innovative way.

Welsh Dance Strand 2015:
Four companies will be provided with additional marketing support including a poster distribution campaign, advertising, PR support, video promo’s etc to add value and maximise resources through the sharing of marketing tools, personnel and performance packages.
The following companies have been approached to be part of the Welsh Dance Strand 2015 including
- Coreo Cymru’s Associate Artist 2015 Gwyn Emberton Dance’s ‘My People’.
- Coreo co-production with Sally Marie’s Sweetshop Revolution ‘I loved you and I loved you’.
- Theatr Genedlaethol with Eddie Ladd ‘Dawns Ysbrydion’.
- Light, Ladd and Emberton’s ‘Caitlan’.
Welsh Dance Strand 2014:
Celebrating the diversity and quality of dance in Wales the programme included performances fusing contemporary dance, parkour and breakdance, dance movement and technology, dance immersion and audience participation as well as dating and dance theatre!
The pilot Welsh Dance Strand successfully presented a dynamic and diverse programme of shows at Zoo Southside from 18 – 25th August 2014 with ticket sales exceeding all expectations and several high profile reviewers in attendance.
Produced by Coreo Cymru, the showcase saw Fringe debuts for;
- Coreo Associate Artist 2012 TaikaBox’s ‘Beyond the Body’.
- Coreo Associate Artist 2013 Harnisch Lacey Dance’s ‘SPIN’.
- Coreo Associate Artist 2014 Jo Fong’s An Invitation…
- Coreo commissioned work by Kitsch & Sync Collective’s ‘Last Chance Romance’.
